The law says "STOP" for pedestrians
Washington Police Chief Mike Davis says he's giving fair warning about the pedestrian crosswalks now up on Whitehall Street. "Drivers are required to stop for any pedestrians waiting to cross at both the Gordon Street crosswalk and at the crosswalk by Harper Street on Whitehall. We will be stopping cars and giving tickets." The fine for failing to stop for a crosswalk is $90. Drivers are also reminded that the new speed limit for Whitehall Street is 35 m.p.h., down from 45.
