Explains alternate fuels
Clint L. Thompson (right) of Thompson, Hoffman, and Company, a company which specializes in project development in the design and construction of biodiesel and/or ethanol production plants, spoke to the Kiwanis Club at its regular meeting on Tuesday, October 17. Thompson discussed the history of the development and use of biodiesel/ethanol alternate fuels and the factors that influence their markets. He told members that the U.S. now leads Brazil in the production of ethanol worldwide. Ethanol is mainly processed from corn which the U.S. grows about 11 billion bushels per year. He indicated that political policy in the production of biodiesel/ethanol products is driven by the need for energy, environmental factors, and economics. Bob Simmons was the program host for the day.
