Hillary Lindsey show made Wilkes expat proud of small town
TO THE EDITOR:

I don't even know Hillary Lindsey, but I'm still proud of her just because she is from Washington. Kathy Wickersham Grosshans and I trade calls when we hear Hillary news. Kathy was in Ricky's (Hillary's father) class. I'm glad The News-Reporter has had so much news about her. Y'all have done an excellent job of covering her.

The recent write-up made me wish even more I had been at the concert. I was amazed at the turnout. It shows a sense of community that is missing in a county as fragmented as [the one in which I now live].

It is evident, too, in the community news from the little towns, which gives me a warm feeling; it's like listening to "Prarie Home Companion." I'm glad we have burgs where the church, family, food, and illness are the main topics. I especially enjoy reading about what they have cooked and which restaurants they have frequented recently. For instance, I can predict that if J.W. gets near Athens, he is bound for Red Lobster, even if it's a trip for cancer radiation.
