Children in the pre-kindergarten program at the First Baptist Church have been involved in several endof the-year activities.

On Monday, April 30, the children honored their mothers with a seated luncheon held in the Mary Callaway Burton Fellowship Hall. The tables were beautifully decorated with colorful tablecloths and contrasting overlays. Each table was centered with bouquets of multi-colored gladioli.

The children presented a special cookbook full of recipes to their mothers. The books were full of recipes brought in by and decorated by the children. The cover was enhanced with a group picture of the children dressed in chef's hats and aprons.

The children also gave their mothers planted petunias in pots which they had decorated.

Assisting with the luncheon were Kermit Hocutt, Debbie Lindsey, and Dean Mansfield, and the pre-k teachers, Angie Paul and Jeannie Bruce.

On Tuesday, May 8, the children enjoyed a morning of riding their bicycles and tricycles at the Washington Recreation track. Chris Townsend grilled hotdogs for the group.

Wednesday, May 9, was graduation day for six of the 18 students in the pre-kindergarten program.

The program was held in the sanctuary of the church where students did an outstanding job of presenting some of the accomplishments this year through songs, poems, Bible verses and readings.

The six graduates marched into the sanctuary dressed in white caps and gowns and sang "One Small Voice." The teachers presented certificates to all the students.
