Tracy Lawrence concert set for Aonia; Funk & Soul show follows next night

Big-time musical entertainment is coming to Wilkes County in October, with country star Tracy Lawrence headlining a country show on Friday, October 19, and ZAPP headlining a funk and soul show the next evening.

Both shows will be outdoors at Aonia Park, adjacent to Aonia Pass Motocross Park on the Thomson Highway fivemiles south of Washington.

Organizers are expecting thousands of music fans to attend the Boots & Buckles Country Bash starring big-name country star Tracy Lawrence, along with 17 South, Shameless Dave and the Miracle Whips, and Chris Goss.

"We're hoping for 15,000 for the Tracy Lawrence show," Amy Adams, public relations director for concert organizer Nside-Out Entertainment said.

Admission for the Country Bash will be $31 in advance and $40 at the gate. Gates open at 5 p.m. for the 6 p.m. concert. Coolers will be allowed in for $10, but no glass bottles will be allowed.

Bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating.

The following evening, Saturday, Oct0ber 20, the 17 South FunkFest will bring headliner ZAPP, along with the Bar-Kays, Chemistry, Blue Cotton, and D.L. Scott filling the evening with music.

The outdoor concert will start at 6 p.m. and gates open at 5 p.m., Adams said. Advertising and flyers are going out to some 22 counties in the area, she said, and as many as 10,000 fans are expected.

Tickets for the Funk Fest will be $26 in advance and $35 at the gate. A limited number of VIP tables are available for $750, and those tickets include an after-concert meet-andgreet with the artists.

Adams said that tickets were on sale at www.NsideOutEnt.com and should be available at the Washington Wilkes Chamber of Commerce later this week.

There will be food vendors on site, Adams said, and as with the country concert, coolers will be allowed in for $10 each.
