Local talent to shine in 'Follies'

"The Washington Follies" promises to be a true variety show. There will be singing, dancing, and comedy, as well as a parade of celebrity look-alikes.

Presented by The Washington Little Theater at The Playhouse on North Alexander Avenue, the show will run October 5 at 8 p.m.; October 6 and 7 at 3 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for 12 and under. Members may use their cards. Reservations are recommended and may be made by calling 706-678-9582 or tickets (if available) may be purchased at the box officewhich opens one hour before the show.

Broadway tunes, love songs, inspirational songs, will be presented by soloists; and high kicking dancers from The Washington Dance Academy will show off their talents.

If you like bluegrass you'll want to be there to hear "The Soggy Biscuit Boys" perform and then sing along with Stan Coe and Emory Ware's group of singers and pickers.

Comedy in the form of "The Silent Movie" and "The Stan and Emory Duo" will have the audience laughing.

The Primary Performers, Methodist Men's Ensemble, and the cast of "Smoke on the Mountain" will be doing several numbers, and rounding out the evening will be "The Personality Parade" of local people who look like famous people.

The show is being directed by Jo Randall. Sherri Bowers, who has moved back to Wilkes County after being away about 40 years, will be pianist for the show. Her opening Overture will feature several Broadway melodies.

Dates are October 5 at 8 p.m.; and October 6 and 7 at 3 p.m.
