Thanks for courtesy, concern
TO THE EDITOR:

On Saturday, September 8, I was involved in a single vehicle accident on a dirt road in Wilkes County.

I own a cabin in the Jackson Crossroads area. I did not eat lunch and was working on hunting club property, got dehydrated and passed out on the way back to the house. We have leased the property since 1975 so it is like my second home.

When I came to, I was upside down in my seatbelt. A neighbor and his wife in a four-wheeler stopped me from walking any further up the road and stayed until deputies, a firefighter, and the EMS responded.

All of the Wilkes County officials were very courteous, helpful and concerned. I spent about four hours in your Wills Memorial Hospital and your emergency room staff could not have been more professional.

From myself and my family, I want to say thank you to the Wilkes County Sheriff's Department, Wilkes County EMS, Wills Memorial Hospital Emergency Room Staff, and Marc Hammond. I also want to thank Blake Thompson for checking on me twice when he was not on duty. Blake helped save my life in 1984, as an EMT for the Elbert County Hospital.

BILL HOLLAND
