Iris Garden Club members gather for Membership Coffee at Stubbs home

The Iris Garden Club September Membership Coffee was enjoyed Tuesday, September 11, at Flying Dollar Farm, home of Karen Stubbs.

Members were greeted by hostesses, Mrs. Stubbs, president; Franny Robinson, first vice-president; Rena Strickland, second vice-president; Laura Toburen, third vice-president; Evelyn Bennett, secretary; and Cathy Stackhouse, treasurer. They provided delicious refreshments for members to enjoy.

Mrs. Stubbs called the meeting to order and Mrs. Toburen led the club in a prayer of remembrance of those killed on September 11, 2001.

A detailed business meeting followed and committee reports were given.

The president's horticultural comment focused on armadillos and their destructive behavior in gardens.

Announcements included the Garden Club of Georgia, Inc., Azalea District meeting on Wednesday, October 17, at 10 a.m. at Savannah Rapids Pavilion in Evans.

Mrs. Stubbs invited any interested members to join her in attending. Also announced was the next meeting on October 9 at 10 a.m. at the Parish Hall. Hostesses will be Anna Gunter, Catherine Hessert, Ruth Adams and Debbie Holes.

Members present were Ruth Adams, Debbie Bennett, Evelyn Bennett, Mary Ann Bentley, Jane Bundy, Sandy Burton, Marcia Campbell, Mary Lou Dyer, Jackie Gale, Anna Gunter, Dot Harris, Catherine Hessert, Annetta Hilliard, Norma Hopkins, Nobie Keener, Nita Latimer, Lisa Luken, Nancy McAvoy, Oleta McAvoy, Marilyn Pasco, Bernie Pope, Franny Robinson, Cathy Stackhouse, Karen Stubbs, Marian Thorpe, Laura Toburen, Patsy Winn and Sharlene Zima.
