Market Days Street Festival expects scores of vendors for Oct. 27 event "We've had a tremendous reaction from vendors, and they're coming from all over - more than 80 so far," said Bradley Barber, for the 2007 Market Days Street Festival set for all day Saturday, October 27 in Downtown Washington. The 2007 Market Days Street Festival will fillthe Court Street area all day, with scores of vendors and music and food, and into the night with music and dancing. "It's going to be big, really big," said Tourism Director Ashley Barnett, "Bradley and Katherine have really brought together a great collection of mostly local crafts and food vendors, plus fun activities and home-grown music. And a dance that night." There are still vendor spots available at the festival. Current vendors include some of the best local and regional merchants and entrepreneurs, Barber said, including: Coyote Moon, D.J's Fine Foods, Arbonne International, Tink's Grass- Fed Beef, The Washington Little Theater, The Funny Farm, Elaine's Handmade Scarves, Nacho Mama Foods, Creative Memories, Jones Handmade Goods, Lizzie Anne Jewelry Designs, The Washington Historical Museum, Re:Paper and many more. Vendor applications are still being accepted. Special events are planned throughout the day including cooking demonstrations by Chef Doug Janousek and chef-in-training Anthony Macchia. The Washington Humane Shelter will hold their Adopt-a-Pet program at the Farmers Market all day. Visitors will can visit the "Build Your Own Scarecrow" booth and build a scarecrow to take home. Miss Fanny's Tours will be offering special ghost tours of Washington. There will be live local music by Adam Reddick, Bragg N'Hughes, Mack Gecko, Rayle Slim, The Friendz Band and others. The event will culminate with an "Off the Square" dance where people can dance in the streets while listening to live music. "It should be great fun for the whole family," said Katherine Barber. The Market Days 2007 Street Festival, a joint effort of Washington Farmers Market, in collaboration with Washington First, Inc. is sponsored by the Washington-Wilkes Chamber of Commerce, Barnett Southern Corporation, Old South Marketing & Public Relations, Tena's Jewelry, Fievet Pharmacy, Washington Events Management, LLC, and Tink's Grass-Fed Beef.
