Wilkes voters can cast presidential ballots on Super Tuesday but photo ID needed

Wilkes County voters can have their say on Super Tuesday as they vote in the February 5 Presidential Preference Primary. Polls will open Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. throughout Wilkes County.

Advance primary voting began Monday, January 28, and will end Friday at 5 p.m. Advance voting is done at the Voter Registrar Officeat the Wilkes County Courthouse.

When voting in Wilkes County and statewide, voters will be asked to choose a Republican or Democratic ballot when voting in the Presidential Preference Primary.

Voters participating in the election in-person will be required to show photo ID, Secretary of State Karen Handel said. All voters will be re- quired to show one of the following six forms of photo ID when voting in-person during advance voting or on Election Day:

l A Georgia driver's license, even if expired;

l Any valid state or federal government issued photo ID, including a free Voter ID Card issued by your county registrar or Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS);

l Valid U.S. passport;

l Valid employee photo ID from any branch, department, agency, or entity of the U.S. Government, Georgia, or any county, municipality, board, authority, or other entity of this state;

l Valid military photo ID; or l Valid tribal photo ID.

If a voter does not have one of these forms of photo identification,he can obtain a free Voter ID card at the county registrar's officeor the Georgia Department of Driver Services.
