Ernest Stich

Dr. Ernest Stich, 87, of Rayle, died January 25, 2008, in Wills Memorial Hospital. The family received friends at Hopkins Funeral Home Sunday evening, January 27.

Dr. Stich was a native of Kings County, New York, and was the son of the late Benjamin Stich and Mollie Shulman Stich. He was a retired orthopedic surgeon and served as a captain in the United States Army during World War II. He had lived in Wilkes County for 35 years. His first wife of 36 years was the late Miriam Faroll Stich.

Survivors include his wife, Judith Verrico Stich, of Rayle; a son, Joseph B. Stich, Atlanta; three daughters, Anne F. Stich, Shrewsbury, N.J., Margaret Stich Silva and her husband Bruce, Austin, Texas, and Elizabeth B. Stich, Colbert; two stepsons, Vincent P. Verrico, Dacula, and Thomas E. Verrico, Fredericksburg, Texas; and five grandchildren.
