Hilda S. Smith

Funeral services for Hilda S. Smith, 86, formerly of Tignall, were held Saturday, February 2, 2008, at the Independence United Methodist Church, Tignall, with Rev. Rich Seibert officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. She died Thursday, January 31, at Vista Care Hospice at Budd Terrace in Decatur.

Mrs. Smith was a native of Wilkes County and was the daughter of the late Robert Toombs Smith and Annie Bolton Smith. She was the widow of Fred Smith and was a retired secretary for the Georgia Department of Human Resources. She was a member of Independence United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a sister, Frances S. Mayer of Sandy Springs.

Pallbearers included Joe Maher, Blake Maher, Mike Beckworth, Gene Heard, James Maher, and Jimmy Harper.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Washington-Wilkes Animal Shelter, 358 Brown Rd., Washington 30673.

Hopkins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
