Mrs. Wilda Smith Boatwright honored on ninetieth birthday

Mrs. Wilda Smith Boatwright of Rayle was honored on the occasion of her ninetieth birthday at a surprise celebration Saturday afternoon, February 2, at Rayle City Hall, given by her son, Alex Boatwright, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, assisted by family friend, Laura Shedd. Mrs. Boatwright's birthday was February 3.

Mrs. Boatwright's granddaughter, Kim Avery, and granddaughter-inlaw, Casey Hicks, both of Rayle, visited her and encouraged her to let them take her for an afternoon ride. After much coaxing, Mrs. Boatwright consented and wondered as they came to Rayle City Hall, why there were so many cars there and then why would they be stopping there also. The girls got her out of the car to "check it out" and Mrs. Boatwright was truly surprised and speechless to findall the festivities were for her.

The hall was festively decorated with beautiful cut and potted flowers sent from family and friends in honor of her birthday.

A table held a beautiful and delicious birthday cake decorated in white with yellow and pink trim and yellow flowers. Topping the cake was "Happy Birthday Mimi." Enjoyed with the cake were vegetables with dip, party sandwiches, chips and dip, pretzels, crackers and other assorted dips, fruit with dip, punch and soft drinks.

Mrs. Boatwright's pastor at Sardis Baptist Church, Rev. Jim Newsome, offered a special prayer for her and the occasion.

Lots of pictures were taken during the party to provide many happy memories of the day. In addition to the pictures, Mrs. Boatwright was presented many gifts and cards.

Guests included family and friends both young and young at heart.
