Matilda Lee Thompson Bufford

Funeral services for Matilda "Tillie" Lee Thompson Bufford, 84, of Tignall, were held Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Jamie Callaway officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. She died Thursday, May 8.

Mrs. Bufford was a native of Gore, Oklahoma, and was the daughter of the late Jess Lee Thompson and Bertha Jewel Stephens Thompson. She was a retired seamstress and a member of Beulah Baptist Church. She was the widow of William Men Bufford Jr.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Linda Bufford of Winston, Leroy and Cindy Bufford, Tignall, and Jesse and Jeri Bufford, Marietta; a sister, Flora Thompson Wilson, Anderson, S.C.; 10 grandchildren, Jenni Bourquine, Brandy Stanford, Amy Howard, Susan Whitfield,Billy Bufford, Krissy Veal, Cody Beggs, Joe Bufford, Jamie Standard, and Marie Arcenia; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers included James Harper, Bo Rhodes, Charles Daniel, Ed Rhodes, Carl Bailey, and Johnny Carroll. Men of Beulah Baptist Church served as honorary pallbearers.

Hopkins Funereal Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
