Briarwood girls runner-up in GISA Region 1AA
Keen shared the individual high point honors with Shannon Newsome of Thomson. He first place finishes were in the triple jump, the 400-meter dash, the 4x100 relay, and the 4x400 relay. Emily Henderson, another member of the winning 4x400 relay team, was runner-up in both the 800-meter run and the 16000-meter run. Anna Goolsby placed third in the 400 meters, fourth in the 100-meter dash, and fourth in the 800 meters. She was also a member of the winning 4x400 team. The fourth member of the 4x400 team, Brandy Ray, also placed second in the long jump, third in the 100 meters, and fourth in the 200-meter dash.
All of these top four finishes from the region meet advanced to competition at the state track meet held at Hugh Mills Stadium in Albany. Former Briarwood scholar-athlete Hannah Batrous accompanied the team to the meet. The girls 4x400 relay team (Keen, Henderson, Goolsby, Ray) took second place at the state meet. Keen was also runner-up in the 400 meters and sixth in the 4x100 relay. Walker was runner-up in the 4x100 relay and third in the 4x400 relay. Henderson finished third in the 1600 meters and third in the 800 meters. Goolsby was sixth in the 400 meters, the 800 meters, and the 4x100 relay. She also got an eighth place finish in the 100 meters. Ray was sixth in the 4x100 relay and seventh in the long jump.
Smith finished fifth in the pole vault.
