W-W Primary Performers perform, receive musical instrument prizes

The Washington-Wilkes Primary Performers presented a program of songs for Honors Day at W-WPS. It was the last of four programs presented this year by the performing group. Musical selections were "Big Dreams," "I Want to Be," "Summer Is Coming," "Time To Say Goodbye," "So Long" by Teresa Jennings, and "Friends To The End" by Jay Althouse. Director Ann Tiller presented the performers with a certificateof participation.

Tiller gave certificatesand musical instruments to children in the second and third grades for having attained a high score on the music computer program, Music Ace, which helps to develop ear training and build proficiency in beginning music theory. Fifty students achieved high scores exceeding 10,000 points for the year.

Lykah Mora, who received a conga drum, made the highest score in the second grade. Connor Powell, Jack Rogers, and Gabriel Mills received a certificateof recognition for having reached 20,000 points.

The second highest score in the school was a tie between two third grade students who reached over 25,000 points. Thomas Burriss received a bongo drum and Tyler Moore received a floor tom.

The highest score in the school was made by Makayla Wray, a third grade student, who achieved over 30,000 points and received the first place prize of a new Yamaha keyboard for her efforts.
