Washington-Wilkes Tiger tennis team ends successful season with awards

W-W tennis awards went to sophomore Michael Edwards, "Tiger Award;" senior Katie Haugher, team captain award; Lindsey Guin, "Most Valuable Player;" and Jamal Callaway, "Most Improved."
Lindsey Guin captured the top honor for the Washington-Wilkes Tiger tennis team as she was named "Most Valuable Player" for 2008 at the team's end-of-the-season celebration last week. Also receiving special recognition were Katie Haughey, who took home the team captain award; Michael Edwards, winner of the "Tiger Award;" and Jamal Callaway, who was named "Most Improved."

Tennis head coach Amy Wheatley reported that both the boys and girls teams qualified for region competition this year and that the girls were also able to advance to the first round of the state playoffs.

Wheatley told the team how much she enjoyed the season, and thanked all the players for participating.
