First Methodist hosts youth choir next Thursday evening at 7 p.m. The First United Methodist Church of Washington will be host to the New World Generation Youth Choir of the First United Methodist Church, Hendersonville, Tenn., for a special program on Thursday, June 19, 7 p.m. The choir will present "Never the Same," a powerful dramatic musi- cal which deals with the important subject of youth suicide from a Christian perspective. "Very few people are aware of the magnitude of the problem of youth suicide," says Shay Harris, First United Methodist, Washington, Music Director. Youth suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people ages 15 to 24 and second for collegeage young people. Each year this "silent epidemic" claims the lives of approximately 100 young people per week in the United States. "This musical drama is a must-see for all young people and their parents," Harris said. "Youth groups are especially encouraged to attend."
