Farm Safety Camp planners thank all who helped

TO THE EDITOR:

The 2008 Farm Safety Camp planning committee would like to offer a tremendous "Thank You" to everyone who volunteered their time, made contributions and great efforts to make this year's camp a huge success. The children participated in various classes held at the McGill-Woodruff Ag Center. They learned about firesafety, electrical safety, large farm animal safety, reptile safety, ATV and tractor safety, gun and water safety, first aid and bee stings, sun care, and a full demonstration on the "Jaws of Life" and vehicle safety. The camp reached 155 Wilkes and Lincoln County young people who participated in all the educational classes and program that the camp offers.

The 2008 planning committee was made up of a cooperative group effort from the Wilkes and Lincoln County Cooperative Extension Agencies, Wilkes and Lincoln County Farm Service Agency, Rayle Electric Membership Corporation, AG Georgia Farm Credit, Land- Bank Solutions, Washington Fire Department, Wilkes County Young Farmers, Wilkes County Farm Bureau, Wilkes County EMS, Natural Resources Conservation Service- Washington Field Office, and other individuals interested in the safety of our children.

We would like to thank individuals from the following businesses and organizations who made this year's camp possible: Lincoln County Cattlemen's Association, Farmer's State Bank, Wilkes County Cattlemen's Association, Farmers and Merchants Bank, Georgia Respiratory Home Care and Medical Equipment, Integrative Detention Health Services, Washington Mini Storage, Optimist Club of Washington, Broad River Soil and Water Conservation District, Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Poss Ace Hardware, Wilkes County Stockyard, Anderson Insurance Agency, Wills Memorial Hospital, First Franklin, Kiwanis Club of Washington, Palmer Equipment Co., Inc., Rhodes Paint and Body Shop and Wrecker Service, Washington Rotary Club, Griggs-Ficklen Insurance, Benjamin L.
