Walter Hill O'Neal Funeral services for Walter Hill O'Neal, 83, were held Monday, June 16, 2008, at Wisteria Cemetery in Union Point with Rev. Robert Rayner and Rev. Leonard Ezell officiating. He died Saturday, June 14. Mr. O'Neal was a native of Greene County and was the son of the late John Robert and Hilda Scott O'Neal. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He had coached Little League baseball and served as a Boy Scout leader. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier after 43 years, and enjoyed the game of golf. Survivors include his wife, Alma O'Neal; a son, John Hill O'Neal of Sebring, Fla.; two step-daughters, Patricia Tuttle of Washington, and Sandra O'Pry of Athens; three grandchildren, Katie O'Neal Lash, John Hill O'Neal Jr., Robert Scott O'Neal; three step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Callaway Funeral Home of Union Point was in charge of arrangements.
