Rod Canterbury is candidate for Wilkes Co. Probate Judge

CANTERBURY
Rod Canterbury has announced his candidacy for Wilkes County Probate Judge.

The 54-year-old title abstractor said, "After being approached by several Wilkes County residents when Judge Burton announced his retirement, I have qualified this week and will seek the office of Probate Judge. The Probate Judge is voted on by the people and one of the most important aspects of the position is to be available to the residents of Wilkes County. Judge Burton and his staff have done an excellent job with the recording of vital statistics and overall management of the office, traffic court and election control."

Having visited other probate offices for his title abstract work, he said, "I know how easy poor documentation and recording can occur. The 20 years of related handon experience is the reason I feel I'm the best candidate for Probate Judge, to assure the residents of Wilkes County that the proficiency and integrity they are accustomed to will be continued."

His duties as title abstractor, he said, have given him the opportunity to work closely with the Probate Judges and other pertinent offices in the court houses of Wilkes, Oglethorpe, Elbert, Lincoln, McDuffie, Jefferson, Hancock, Warren, Taliaferro, Green, Hart, and various Georgia and other state counties. "Performing this function allows me the opportunity to see how vital records are properly recorded and maintained. I will bring to the Probate Judge office knowledge, integrity, compassion, and a commitment to the residents of Wilkes County."

Canterbury has been a resident of Wilkes County for a number of years, and is married to Darlene Canterbury, employed by Cravco, Inc. in Washington. "We have two married adult daughters who live in the Wilmington, N.C., area, and we have a daughter, Courtney, who graduated from Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School, completed her studies at ABAC in Tifton, and is now enrolled in Athens Tech to complete her studies. Our youngest is our son, Seth, who will be a junior at W-WCHS this fall."

Should the citizens of Wilkes County give him the opportunity on November 4, Canterbury said, "I will maintain the office of Wilkes County Probate Judge in the same professional manner that you have enjoyed for these many years with maturity, openness, dedication, and fairness to all the residents of Wilkes County. I look forward to meeting each and every one of you during the next few months as I bring my campaign to your door. Your vote and support in November will be greatly appreciated."
