Old airport terminal gets new home
After years of serving as the oldest known airport terminal building, this 19th-century wood cabin has finally been moved from its honored spot on the flight line at Washington-Wilkes Airport. Movers eased the small building off the airport site, down Highway 78 under escort, then around the South Bypass to Lundberg Road. It was placed at a site on the property of Pembroke Pope, where it will be fixed up and enlarged into a home.
