Newtown Baptist Church will have homecoming on Sunday, August 3, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Andy Perryman, Georgia Baptist Association Missionary, as the speaker. Revival services will be held August 4-6, 7 p.m. each evening with Rev. Jim Newsome, pastor of Sardis Baptist Church, as the speaker.

The annual Fourth of July parade will begin at Fort Washington Park (behind the Courthouse) at 8 a.m. The parade is for walkers, bicycle and tricycle riders, strollers, dogs (on leashes), and anything else that is not motorized. The parade route is short and will end in the park with the reading of a portion of the Declaration of Independence and the singing of the National Anthem. Wilkes Transit and the Wilkes County Senior Center will be closed June 30th through July 4th.

The Wilkes County Senior Center will be having yard sale in August. Anyone wishing to donate items may bring them to the Center at 108 Marshall Street. All proceeds from the sale will be used for bingo prizes and other projects at the Center. For further information please call 706-678-2518.

The Mt. Nebo Baptist Church Choir, Metasville, will celebrate the fourth anniversary of the choir on Saturday, July 12, 3 p.m. Special music guests will be Rev. Dr. Philip Dunston and the Friendship Mass Choir of Appling. Refreshments will be served following the service.

Mark's Tabernacle Baptist Church will have its mothers anniversary July 6, 2 p.m. The Ministers and Deacons Union will meet at the Sardis Baptist Church the weekend of June 27-29.

True Light Church of Rayle will celebrate the church's anniversary Sunday, July 20, 3 p.m. Pastor Garnie Shorter of Lyonville Baptist Church of Rayle will be the guest speaker.
