Zero Tolerance

You know, it seems like the world has turned upside down. Society wants us to be receptive and totally tolerant of sin -- any kind of sin, and God forbid if we say anything about it or take a stand against sin.

Yet the law is cracking down on many things like smoking in public places. After a while you won't be able to smoke anywhere, even outside and then if you smoke in your house your spouse just might kick you out. So the best thing to do is quit like I did. I'm against smoking because it's bad for your health and it is a waste of money that you need to give to feed the hungry and to God's work.

The alcohol consumption law is also now zero tolerance in many states. There used to be an alcohol limit and if you blew the bubble and went over then you were in a mess of trouble. Now, it's zero tolerance and there again I quit drinking and it was the best thing I ever did. The cigarettes were the hardest thing I ever quit. They would have eventually got me, but the whiskey would have killed me sooner or landed me in prison. Except for the mercy of God, go I.

Now, here's the point. When folks want to point their finger at church folk and holler, "hypocrite," it's not just the church. It's everywhere. They call for zero tolerance and yet

they still allow promotion of alcohol on television and everywhere else and to prove that the devil is in it. They allow commercials with halfnaked women

-- good-looking

women; all drinking booze like everything is fine. They should show them about two hours later when they are drunk as a skunk taking all their clothes off and then puking in the commode.

These commercials are nothing but a front -- a farce covering the real truth. They want to put the tobacco companies through the grinding mill, so why don't they talk about all the millions and millions of lives that are destroyed because of whiskey. Yet they make smoking out to be as bad as carrying a contagious disease; yet alcohol continues to be glorified. They have bent over backward to try and put the tobacco companies out of business, saying that they never let folks know how addictive cigarettes were. Well, they did warn folks of the hazard for years and do you think that stopped anyone from smoking? No way. And furthermore, they didn't put a gun to those folks' head and make them smoke. Again I repeat, "I am against smoking."

Alcohol is as addictive as anything and think about all the social problems we have because of it, including broken homes, homicides and crimes committed while under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Oh, I know they talk about moderation and that wears kind of thin when you realize all the social ills we have because of alcohol and drugs. What do we do about drugs? Well, that's another box of soap.

Now, alcohol and drugs go hand in hand. Most start with alcohol. What do we do with alcohol? Mainly, we stop promoting it with half-naked good-looking women. Stop all television commercials promoting alcohol like they forced them to do with cigarettes. And if they argue for television spots then tell them to film some wineos and sots and folks all hell hacked and put them in a television commercial. Can you say amen?
