W-WPRD enforces policies concerning coaches and others

The Washington-Wilkes Parks and Recreation Department and its employees enforce its policies regarding all volunteer coaches, managers, and individual who provide services to the recreation department.

As part of the Child Protection Program, coaches in all programs are required to have a background check before being considered for a coaching position. A drug test is mandatory for anyone wishing to be considered for a coaching position. A random drug test will also be conducted without individualized suspicion.

Any coach found using drugs or known to sell drugs will not be allowed to coach in any recreation program. The goal of the Child Protection Policy is to balance respect for children and other individuals, and to provide a safe, productive, drug-free environment.
